Title: Upcoming kits
Post by: Ryuken 76 on November 09, 2016, 01:55:18 AM
What do you guys think of this kit?? It's a Daban brand which along with Dragon Momoko have really improved over the last few years IMO.

I think it's pretty boss. Daban and DM have come a long way and have surpassed other 3rd party manufacturers by leaps and bounds in terms of quality, though still not at Bandai's level. I believe they should just focus on doing these detail up / resin kit turned into model-kit versions instead of straight copies of Bandai designs...or go one step further and get people from the custom building community to sell/share their designs for mass production... I've always wanted a Grieier lol...

Yes I couldn't agree more, I like these detail-up versions better than straight copies which ain't worth it IMO.

Looking at the 1/100 Hazel. there's indeed some great potential for third parties and I would love to see some more resins turned to plastic.
However, it's strange how "they" (whoever designs those transitions) usually screw-up to capture the essence of a design, changing it here and there to the point where it doesn't look cool anymore e.g. the Gerbera Tetra and Sazabi Evo (originally by Studio Reckless) or the High Nu and Kämpfer Conversion kits.

I got the same feeling for the new DM Zeta, I was going to order one but on closer inspection the panel lines are completely overdone.

I just purchased a Daban MG Jesta Cannon for US$39 which is a lot cheaper than US$295 that I've seen on Ebay etc, other than that I don't bother buying the straight copies of kits because Bandai just does it better.BTW while I'm here has anyone seen this before?

It's a Dragon Momoko PG kit and has custom decals and extra detail, panel lines etc.It comes with

2 x Hyper Bazooka
2 x Hyper Beam Javelin
LED unit + Remote controller
Custom decals
Custom backpack
4 x Beam Gatling Gun [2 pairs]
2 x Shield
Beam Magnum
and it's only around US$150 which compared to Bandai is pretty cheap so I'm definitely tempted.

P-Bandai Exclusive: MG 1/100 RMS-179 GM II
(Release Date: Jan 2017, Price: 3,780 yen)

Although I welcome more UC releases but that this GM looks too damn plain for a MG.

there is alot for cool stuff coming out of china at the moment and also non gundam mecha stuff from japan also, im starting to notice a pattern. with 3rd party and non bandai mech stuff you are starting to see what proper modellers want from their kits that bandai never offer, proper high scale model detail.

talking of 3rd party, this injection molded 1/35 bust is going to be awesome...

Do you mean Bandai doing a re-bawoo or the release being a p-Bandai ? Second option was definitely predictable if the 1st one was going ahead, still a nice kit though, a shame for the price

Yeah I meant both ;D and yes It is a nice kit,I was gonna get the HG version until I heard they were doing a RE 100 Bawoo a few months ago,as for price it is a shame but I'll still get one because it's been on my want list for ages and why Bandai thinks this won't sell as well as the Bawoo I'll never know.

The Providence looks killer. Take days to panel line. Coincidence that a third party kit is released in the week before the official bandai and with the same level of detail. I was contemplating the third party but I'll wait at least you know the quality of bandai kits.  Ill give the ZZ a skip could end up being over complicated. I love the ver. Ka look which should suit the ZZ perfectly I'm just not into the ZZ enough the spend probably in the region of 7,000 yen on it.

Looked at the new Ibo kits and the suits look savage. I'm not a 144 type of guy but the Ibo could persuade me otherwise.

I ordered mine about 5 days ago (from Gundam Central) and just received it today, the molding looks nice and solid and is good quality compared to Daban IMO the V fin looks like it's been painted with a gold marker though lol and the LED's and remote work fine so far.

It's 1/60 PG scale and also includes the lights and has more weapons so yeah It's heaps cheaper than the Bandai version, also the molding quality is very good too I highly recommend it,I got mine from Gundam Central and it only took 6 days to deliver which really surprised me.

Dragon Momoko is better quality than Daban in my experience,I just bought a Daban Jesta Cannon MG and the molding is pretty woeful and needs a LOT of cleaning up whereas the Dragon Momoko kits are pretty much on par with Bandai, just under IMO.

Wow seen the detail pics of the psycho zaku. Possibly the best looking zaku ever made by bandai, except for the stupid thingies hangin out the back. I live the wraps on the energy cables, the chunky legs  verniers everywhere it's my kinda suit. The back back is awesome as well, that is without the fuel tanks and extra gubbins. I would quite happily hand over 6500 yen for that beastie but not the as good as 10000 they're asking for this. And since this has somehow turned into a rant. Can dengeki hobby not clean up the nubs before posting close up pics of a suit????? Anybody got a recommendation for a killer mg zaku as I said I love the psycho but without the gubbins???

All the MG Zaku II 2.0 kits are fantastic still probably one of the best MG's to date.
As far as the Origin Tristar weapons Bono made a set for the MG kit.
And a lot of people have been selling recasts of it.

I keep hearing how awesome the Zaku 2.0 is, I really need to get my hands on one.

For Dragon Momoko, I doubt they woudl go into the process of creating a whole new PG, their current take seems to be a redesign on bandai's version when Daban is just a straight copy. I would expect DM to release a banshee and probably a phenex in the future.

The Zaku 2.0 kit is great. Definitely pick one up if you haven't had one before.

Of new and upcoming stuff, I'm most interested in the updated MG ZZ Gundam. I have the old MG and it's a fine looking kit, but obviously flimsy for it's transformation and full of stickers. I'm very curious to see how Bandai updates the kit with better engineering. Hoping for a new FAZZ too.

I would hope not as it was a suit that did appear in the series. I would say the Sentinel version would be P-Bandai material. But this is me thinking rationally and Bandai isn't always logical with their P-Bandai choices.

Great news! Ako Hobby will be teaming up with a Chinese workshop to reproduce their long sold out injection molded GM3 conversion kit. Price is around US$15, estimated release date is September. If the quality of this run is as good as Ako's previous one then this is really worth the purchase. This conversion kit uses the MG Mk2 ver 2.0 as frame.

Similar to all 3rd party kits, they should be available through the usual channels like ebay, online stores etc.

Gundam central are selling quite a few resin kits now, i most of them are from Side3 but worth keeping an eye on. They have the RGC-80 resin kit for sale so i just need to find a cheep ver 2.0 frame, anyone got one they want to sell?
