Random Chats / who's ready for a build-off?
« on: January 10, 2017, 10:44:40 AM »
We've kind of been holding off on a build-off for a while so we can get enough people on the forum to participate - the question is, is everyone ready for one? With membership as it is I suggest the build off be something small, and I am open to any ideas you may have. Prizes will be made available for winners who complete their entries, and depending on how well it all goes we can start to ramp up to larger compos!

T'is done, but there is still a WIP to be edited and slapped onto youtube, thought I would share it here first. Pretty happy with how it's turned out, I think next time though I will draw back the strength of black I used on the panel lines. I like the contrast but I feel a darker grey would work better. I welcome any feedback you have :)

One's I have used so far are: (huge range, prices ok)

Banzai Hobby (pretty decent range, more RC stuff)

Mandarake (if you're looking for something a little bit more hard to find)

Jungle (Second hand and b-stock stuff, good for a bargain now and then with the occasional rarity)

Showcase / HG Tieren Space Type
« on: September 13, 2016, 07:21:35 PM »
Just a nice, straightforward HG Tieren Space Type, built for the Team Helios grunt suit build-off. Primed with Alclad II primer and microfiller, with metallic bits primed with white enamel. Used spectral holographic paint for the thrusters, although it just looks a bit pearly in the images. Painted in a modulation style using mr. color and Tamiya acrylics, top coated with a tamiya flat clear.
