Showcase / PG Strike + Aile Pack
« on: February 15, 2017, 06:25:47 PM »
So I would have had more WIP photos but like an idiot I deleted them to make room on my phone. But things are changing. Nice new shiny camera for all the photo needs. The display setup is nonexistent so I had to make do with what I had for now. The build it self was hella fun, strongerly recommend PG kits now. The Strike as a low cost of entry if you are looking for a starting point. This build I still have to finish some clean up and panel lining but it is so close I figured I would go ahead and post in the showcase.

Oh boy am I excited for this build. So much so that I am taking a break from my diorama that is very overdue for an update itself. I have a tradition with every build that I construct the head first. After doing that this time I was thinking it was going to be that big, but shield pieces made me think otherwise. So I built that. To help get a sense of size the first photos are going to be size comparison of 1/144 1/100 1/60 and banana for scale.

What's people planning? Lots of times I know I have things I want to work on but because things aren't in supply or maybe you are stuck you just need something new to work on. I'm at sort of a mental block on my diorama so I ordered a PG Strike Gundam. First PG kit I will ever do. Pretty excited about it.

Mecha Nerd-out / Favorite Gundam

What is your favorite Gundam and why? Doesn't have to because of a kit, doesn't have to be because of that one certain episode with that one really cool scene. Any Gundam any reason. Go!

I could only do 5 options so yes there was a lot of deleting and retyping to get those 5. There may be some of you that those 5 aren't your favorite, to those people I am sorry you feel left out. Personally my favorite is Stardust Memory but this is not a poll of favorites, its a poll of longevity.

Visited my parents today and raided the attic to see what toys and all have survived. Good news, probably close to 100 kits made it. I snapped a few pics of what was up there. So this thread is going to be all about collections. (my collection is all kinds of messed up till I can get it out of their house.)

Works in Progress / GM/Zaku Diorama

Since returning to Gunpla this year I decided to hit the ground running. I had never done weathering, I never painted, until earlier this year I never even touched water slides. But I wasn't going to let that stop me. I got an idea for a diorama (first one I will have ever done) and just decided to go for it. I took a lot of inspiration from 0080 and 0083 for the physical brutality that came to battles. Mobile Suits had a heaviness and mechanical feel that I loved. I decided to do a battle between a Zaku and two GMs and to my own little take on the Zeon rebellion post OYW.

Hello, I am PenguinSteve, but Steve works just fine. I am here to learn, share, and inspire. I also started a running introduction thread in random chat. I thought it would be a good way to have a running board of what makes members who they are. Happy to be a part of an amazing community!

Random Chats / Introduce yourself

There are a lot of YouTubers, Instagramers, Facebookers, and whatever you call people on Twitter on here. But I would like to take a couple of minutes for members to talk about what they do, not just with kits, but life in general. We are pretty interesting people, so lets get to know each other.

Hello, I'm Steve from North Carolina. I live in Louisville with my wife and baby daughter. My wife is in school and I work and take care of the little one. I recently have gotten back into Gunpla after years. It started as a way for me to de-stress and work on something constructive in my down time. I also do art and have been in a couple of shows the past few years. If anyone ever wants to talk about art, Gunpla, or even juggling family time and work time feel free to message me. I have a couple of projects in the works so I will be posting WIP pretty regularly. I look forward to hearing about you!
