Random Chats / Cospa/Cosplay and Gundam related clothing...
« on: November 05, 2016, 05:25:00 PM »
Does anyone have any of the Cospa (the Japanese brand that produces Cosplay and Gundam related clothing items.)?

Over the past couple of weeks, I've been buying patches, and various pieces of clothing including flight jackets, leather jackets and other things, like hoodies and tees.

I'm in the process of customising and modifying everything, using patches and screen printing. (Because I'm too poor to fly to Japan purely to buy a jacket from Gundam Front, because I can't find it online.)

Would anyone be interested in seeing WIP or even finished products?
I still have a lot of items to buy before I'm ready to custom everything properly, but just wondered if anyone would be interested in taking a look…?

Random Chats / Tips for Aspiring YouTubers...
« on: October 19, 2016, 08:33:24 PM »
A vast majority of the community is actually on YouTube these days (Including the awesome GundamUK)

Come the new year, I'll be working on my own projects, which, for the moment, I'll say will be radically different from whats in the Youtube community at the moment, although, I won't specify how just yet. (Oh, so mysterious Nova..)

I was wondering whether anyone felt like sharing a few tips and tricks with starting out on YouTube. Obviously, I don't want you to think I'm trying to steal secrets, so just tell me as much as you want to tell me.

I've been brushing up on iMovie skills(As yes, in my younger years, I did have some fairly shocking youtube failures.)

Do you feel professional lighting is essential? Do I need to focus on Branding? Networking? Or any other areas?

I have no sinister aims with starting out on YouTube, I don't want to be famous, or rich, or do it as a day job. I just have a lot of creative ideas and think it's a good medium to share.

Any tips would be humbly appreciated *spit polishes shoes*

Works in Progress / P-Bandai MS-06-S J. Ridden Custom...
« on: October 17, 2016, 08:04:11 PM »
I picked up this kit from Cool Japan, who apparently have stock of some of the hard to find P-Bandai kits.

I did a quick view for my blog, but thought I'd share the differences incase anyone was interested…

The only real difference between this and the Chars 2.0 is obviously the colour, and the waterslide decals.
You could easily customise a Char's 2.0 and I imagine there's probably some Ridden decals available separately from somewhere.
It was only about £10 more expensive than the 2.0.

Can't start work on this until I find more work. (Was made redundant at the beginning of the month.) I've yet to purchase a new Airbrush, and have decided I'll probably have it for Christmas, or it'll be another sad and lonely year where I have no presents. XD

Showcase / First Paint Job (From 10 years ago) Acguy...
« on: October 12, 2016, 04:12:31 PM »
Dear Lord, after trawling through cringe-worthy photo accounts I finally tracked down my first paint job Gunpla. Now…I know there's some seam lines i didn't sand, and obviously I flat coated a metallic that looks a bit…errm…heh. I made a LOT of mistakes with this kit, but it was my first that I ever airbrushed and custom coloured.

Don't judge me too harshly guys, I was just a n00by kid.

Mecha Nerd-out / From the Dark and Distant Past...

Dear mother of…..
While hunting though old photo albums looking for some of my old Gunpla work (Which came up basically blank) I came across an old design I created for a design competition. I was 18 at the time, this was almost exactly 10 years ago and the whole thing was of course heavily influenced by Halloween. I came up with a complete design, front and rear, I then fabricated a story around it and designed weapons..(Of course it was in Zeek hands) Unfortunately, I've lost the weapons designs, but damn….

...I'm almost afraid of how cool my 18 year old self was….

Also I came 3'rd. Although my design was better thought out, was clearly constructed with extensive nerd knowledge, better art skills won over my design.  :'( I think I won a Seed Destiny kit too, so I was kinda like…well.

The Ace that is spoken about in this, became an original character, that later became my own Chimaera Corps spin off…But, I've actually revived the Phantom general 'idea' and I'm working on a Zaku II 2.0 with this kind of colour scheme in mind, for my character Nova Lachlan. (Who was in the Chimaera Corps by the end of the O.Y.W. according to my fantasy riddled brain.)

Furthermore, you can clearly see how heavily influenced it was by the Gunpla world, because I did design it based around a model's line art…and of course I added decals literally all over.

Do you ever do stuff when you're young, then look back, and think…how the hell did that idiot do that?

Random Chats / Looking for Gundam Insta Accounts.
« on: October 11, 2016, 05:03:41 PM »
My only Social Media outlet is Instagram, and as I recently started over fresh I'm looking for some good accounts to follow, do you guys have any recommendations, or even your own accounts that you could share? My feed is full of Kawaii Japanese stuff right now, and I need a healthy balance or I'mma puke.

Q & A / Recommended Air Brush...
« on: October 11, 2016, 04:59:39 PM »
Ok, I've been looking around generally, and I'm hoping to get a couple more tips from you guys before I settle on an Air Brush and Compressor. My old tools were ultimate budget types, and they were fairly shocking. I'm looking to buy online, ideally in the UK, because if I have to import I'll probably get slammed with Custom's Charges….cause you know…King John and all that jazz. (Yes, I just made a Robin Hood reference.)

Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

As someone who no longer uses the Facebook platform I'm pretty pleased you've decided to go back to Forums. I'm probably showing my age, but as a goofy 16 year old I was Queen of the Zaku's on the My Space community. I've fallen in and out over the years, but it's good to be back. Not that I was ever here, but it's nice to see a decent community again. I'm from the UK. And yes I have more than 10 years fandom under my belt.

I'm hoping to make some friends and generally get super fired up talking about Gunpla and Gundam in general. I pretty much know no one in real life with even the remotest interest. Because ya know, it's all Kim Kardashian and the 90's.

The first thing you should probably know about me is I'm a hardcore U.C. fan. My favourite series is actually Zeta, but fallowing swiftly on its heels the Original Series and then Unicorn. The nostalgia I feel for the entire franchise, though admittedly I start to hyperventilate if I stray too far from the Universal Century.

The second thing you should know about me, is I'm a huge Zaku enthusiast. Particularly in regards to the Hi-Mo variants, but especially the R2. Coming from a background…way back when, before Lt. Commander Johnny Ridden got his MSV-R Manga, and was relatively little heard of, I was dreaming up ways in which he could have survived after the Battle of A Baoa Qu…and of course wondering why he ever loved Skellawhore (Kycillia Zabi). Aha. Tangent there, regardless Zaku's!!

I just picked up (I promise I'm not obsessed, it's just that Mr Ridden is an old friend) Premium Bandai 1/100MG Zaku II S in Ridden colours, and the HGUC 1/144 Zaku II R2 again, Ridden colours. I'm …*incredibly* limited for space. I literally live in a 10ft square room in my brothers house, thanks to a relationship breakdown….soooo, I have to be very selective, I decided to go for the HGUC purely because it was a smaller scale.

I also had to shell out for new tools and equipment, because surprise-surprise I got rid of all my old stuff including all of my old builds…mostly because of disapproving boyfriends and the idea that as an adult woman my house shouldn't be full of accurately scaled robots. (Don't worry, that notion has been burnt on the pyre and thoroughly flushed down the porcelain express.)

Anyway, it's nice to meet you all.  8)
