Announcements / Well hello, strangers!
« on: September 12, 2016, 07:10:01 PM »
So after a period of messing about with this forum it has now officially open and I have no idea how many people are going to sign up to become active members of this community. Whatever happens, happens :)

The Mecha Lounge has been revived as I think there is just something missing with modern social media. Archiving - You can't look back on posts you saw a while back that gave you a good idea or had some nice advice! Questions - Experienced modellers are reluctant to answer any questions with any real depth, as they've been asked the same questions over and over again. This leads to quite a lot of misunderstanding and accusations of (derp) elitism. Community - bit of a vague one this, but it really feels like there are so many groups on social media that everyone is essentially a part of one big group anyway - albeit a super huge and confusing one with varying levels of skill. Would it not be nice if it were a little smaller, and just for people who are really serious about the hobby?

Anyway, my rambling ends here. If you've just arrived then hello, and welcome to the Mecha Lounge. I raise a glass to you all and look forward to getting to now you all again :)

Showcase / Posting + Commenting Guidelines
« on: July 04, 2016, 01:05:38 PM »
If you are posting your work here, please expect you will be receiving feedback from a variety of viewpoints, so please do not be offended. Please post clear pictures, from a variety of positions and/or poses so members can provide as much feedback as possible. It's helpful too, to let members know what paint and what methods you used, and what inspired or what backstory your work has.

How to post images: Click on the add image to post link at the bottom of the edit window to insert images into your post. If for any reason it does not work, you can also use the attachments function. You can also use BBCODE to link to images hosted elsewhere. Please do not dump a link to you images, we would like to keep everything onsite for the sake of convenience and group interaction.

If you are commenting, please take some time to offer some helpful feedback. Here's a few pointers.

  • What aspects of the work do you like?
  • What would you have done differently?
  • What aspects of the work do you not like? Why?
  • Can't figure out how something was done? Ask!

House Rules / The Mecha Lounge - House Rules
« on: July 04, 2016, 11:44:25 AM »
Welcome to the Mecha Lounge!
The Mecha Lounge forum is an international community for mecha modellers to showcase, discuss, learn and socialise.  Originally formed in 2012, the Mecha Lounge had grown into a huge community of modellers, but was taken offline in 2015 due to the popularity of social network based groups.

Over time, we realised that everyone's experience of mecha modelling communities through social networking lacked a 'community spirit', and the ability to archive important questions, tips and methods was lost, meaning a consistent repetition of questions that tended to frustrate a lot of experienced modellers. With that in mind, we decided to relaunch the Mecha Lounge. It's future success depends on you!

The Mecha Lounge will host regular giveaways and contests, as long as the membership remains active.

Please visit and post as much as possible, we want to encourage a helpful and most importantly, useful community for Mecha Modellers all over the world. Please follow these very simple guidelines when posting:

  • Say hello! Introduce yourself in the Introductions forum
  • Don't be a dick to other members
  • All feedback is subjective. Don't get upset if someone does not like what you are doing
  • Read the feedback guidelines
  • Check you are posting in the right place, before posting
  • Encourage other Mecha Modellers to join! All levels of skill are welcome
  • Take a look at the Q&A section regularly for anything you feel you can answer!
  • Showcasing work will grant you the status of 'verified modeller', if any of the admin team are already aware of a members work, the status will be given automatically

Karma: Karma is awarded by the admin team by each members discretion. It is a measurement of how we feel about each members level of interaction and general behaviour, but it not linked to any form of penalisation. Make of it what you like, and but do not take it too seriously. See it as an indication as to what you can expect from members. A very low negative is toxic imbecile, a high positive could be sycophantic goodie-twoshoes, and it is entirely subjective and will most of the time be not linked to any interaction outside of this forum.

The Mecha Lounge is not an exclusive club for a benevolent admin team, everyone is welcome to participate, debate and discuss. Understand it is the admin teams job to ensure the community remains lively without unwarranted, irrational, emotional, bullying or personal hostility towards others and action (to be decided by any administrator) will be taken against those who engage in such activity.

Being an active member of this community will have it's rewards! Thank you for participating. Let's make this the best Mech modelling community out there!
