The humble brush!
« on: December 13, 2016, 04:44:11 PM »

This is a reference on how I go about painting gunplas using the humble paint brush. I just wanted to put it here as well in hope that this helps in one way or another. Please keep a couple of things in mind-

1. This tutorial is only a starting point.. there are so much techniques out there by painters that are much better than I am. So google and youtube will be your best friend :)

2. A brush can do more or less everything an airbrush can. They are just two different tools with two different skill sets that has the same endgame.

3. there are no right or wrong way to do anything. as long as you are happy with the result and have fun while doing it. That gunpla is YOURS!!! Not Bandai's, Not Sunrise, not ANY ONE else's on the internet... It's YOUR model- you bought it- it is yours. It's going in your room so, you do what ever you like to it. As long as you are happy with it- That is all that matters :)

4. There is no such thing as "basic" and "advance" techniques. They are simply skills that you learn and acquire through trial and error... A LOT of trial and error. The people that we conciser to be "Amazing" or a "Professional" builders and painters are simply the ones who had failed more times than people have tried.

5. DON'T OVER THINK THINGS. You don't have to find and buy the best of the best of tools or do all the steps... If it is available and/or it works for you - Roll with it So hope you enjoy :)

How would you go about doing pre-shading and post-shading with just hand brushes and spray cans? An airbrush, compressor, and spray booth are beyond what I can afford right now on top of the issue of space for a spray booth.
