Best paint brands
« on: August 13, 2017, 07:35:40 AM »
What's your favourite paint to airbrush with? for me it's Mr Hobby/Tamiya for acrylics and enamel and Gaianotes (my god the colours) for laquer.I tried Vellejo acrylics but they suck bad,for instance they are supposedly pre thinned but are still too thick and turn to a thick goo when thinned (I may have done it wrong) and I will never use them again in all honesty because they are a pain and clog my airbrush and the finish is bad as well.Anyway any feedback would be appreciated as there a lot of brands I haven't tried yet and would like peoples opinions on them cheers.

Concerning the Vallejo paint. Do you add Vallejo airbrush thinner and Retarder medium before you thin it down before loading it into your airbrush? I usually add 3 drops (depending on how much paint I mix I may add more drops) retarder to slow down drying time then add the airbrush thinner for adhesion. Then I thin it down with Tamiya acrylic thinner or Windex (the blue color does not effect the paint, for light colors like white it may give it a slight blue tint.
I use the Vallejo retarder to slow down drying medium.
The Vallejo airbrush thinner to help the thin down paint to adhere/stick to what I am painting.

I usually use the Vallejo paint I have for ground type Gundams or military models kits.

No I used Tamiya thinner which probably why it stuffed up, anyway I've found the finish of other paint superior so I'll just stick to that unless I find something better.

I've tried Zurc 2K Paints which were amazing, dries instantly where you can touch it but not cured obviously, tho their clear coats needs to be mixed with their retarder. - About your Vallejo, usually you would want to thin paints with the same brand thinner.
