Thinking of doing what the big dogs are doing
« on: September 18, 2016, 11:57:22 PM »
So here's my question. Been looking around to making resin coupe of parts. But how do they really do it prime example. Abby lee dress kits, how do they make those? Do they add plates on the original kits then recast it?

A good question I would also be curious to know. As a guess, yes, I would assume the parts are modded and re-casted originals. Hopefully someone on the forum with a better insight can answer this.

I imagine it varies a bit from maker to maker, and depending on the nature of the kit in question. Seems like a very reasonable approach. Perhaps cast copies of the original parts to work from, so as to have spares in case of mistakes?

for dress up kits, yeah they just use the original plastic, mod it with panel lines and plaplate. in fact the side3 dress up kit im doing at the moment still has the gates from the plastic original.

Ok so basically add more details to the original part and recast it. Nicr
